Boulder has produced many great shows including Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Amazing World of Gumball, El Tigre, Wander Over Yonder, My Little Pony: Pony Life, DC Super Hero Girls, Transformers Cyberverse, Danger Mouse, Cat Burglar and the Netflix hit feature film – My Little Pony: A New Generation. We’re looking for a 2D FX Artist to join our incredible artists on an exciting project. You will translate the Animation Director and FX Lead's vison from the animatic to final animation by drawing on your knowledge and skills to insure that each scene is animated with care and consideration, achieve the desired feeling and emption, while aiming to realise the quality style of the show.

You will be joining a close-knit team of artists so you will be proactive, driven, great at problem-solving, and you will thrive collaborating with different teams within the business.

This is a full-time, specified purpose role with hybrid working arrangements (i.e. a combination of both remote and in-studio working). Our studio is located in Dublin City Centre.

  • Develop a clear understanding of the show being produced by watching the animatics and studying the provided reference material which will provide you with an understanding for the shows tone;
  • Design FX appropriate to style of show, keeping colour, scale and technical specifications in mind throughout and in a timely manner;
  • Ensure work files and folders are organized efficiently;
  • Follow all file naming conventions, and set up all files in line with the established production system;
  • Utilise FX concepts and video libraries when creating new FX;
  • Identify and reuse existing effects where necessary;
  • Ensure work is completed on schedule and to production standards;
  • Review workload and communicate any issues to the FX Lead;
  • Complete retakes in a timely manner to the highest standard;
  • Propose and use creative solutions for FX that match the quality and expectations of the production;
  • You will possess the following:
  • No prior experience necessary, however a showreel and portfolio that demonstrate your skills in animation will be required;
  • A strong grasp of the basic animation fundamentals;
  • Problem solving Skills;
  • A great work ethic;
  • Solid drawing skills;
  • Be able to work to a weekly quota;
  • Be detail orientated;
  • Be able to work within/to a production schedule;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
