Job Summary

Cork County Council is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Architects to work as part of a team in the County Architect’s Department and Architect’s Section of the Housing Directorate.

The Assistant Architect will report to an Executive Architect or a Senior Executive Architect, or such designated person(s) as may be assigned from time to time, he/she will assist in the delivery of a programme of architectural work

The successful candidate will have responsibility for designing, delivering and managing construction projects, planning and building compliance and other ancillary works required for the successful development of the County in the areas of, but not limited to, Civic Buildings, Housing, Building Control, Regeneration, Conservation, Public Realm, Urban Renewal and Amenity projects.

Duties include, but are not limited to;

1. Working as part of a team to assist in delivery of a programme of new build and refurbishment projects and providing architectural assistance for the ongoing development and management of the County Council’s building stock;

2. Managing your work to a high standard of design and technical quality and professional practice, to agreed timeframes;

3. Ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with all relevant professional practice and industry standards and relevant public and Cork County Council policies;

4. Ensuring that all relevant records are maintained, consistent with office procedures;

5. Managing your time appropriately so that the resource applied to projects is efficient and proportionate to the task;

6. Communicating effectively with client departments, public representatives and/or the public as may be required;

7. Assisting with any office tasks which may be assigned to you;

8. Acting in the role of Executive Architect as required to cover for annual leave etc.;

9. Carrying out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time
