The RIAI is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications and Architecture to support the RIAI in the delivery of strategic communications and architecture programmes to our key audiences of members, stakeholders and the public.

Communications: Our communications strategy supports the RIAI Strategy, engages our Membership and drives our thought-leadership across important built environment topics. We communicate across multiple platforms – including our website, social media channels, policies and publications – and work to a high standard of excellence.

Architecture: Our architecture programmes – which include architecture awards and medals, conferences and lectures, design competitions and design reviews – are designed to inspire, drive excellence and create awareness of the value that good design brings to society.

This is a diverse and varied role and represents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate.

Roles and Responsibilities

Working as part of the RIAI Architecture and Communications Team, the successful candidate will be:

  • Communicating the RIAI Strategy and impactful work of all RIAI divisions – including Education, Practice, Registration and Architecture & Public Affairs
  • Developing and delivering strategic and high-quality content on the work of the RIAI and its divisions for our website, member e-newsletters and other online platforms as well for our magazines and printed publications
  • Supporting the Director of Architecture and Communications to devise communications strategies and plans
  • Developing and managing our Architecture programmes including RIAI Competitions and Design Reviews, RIAI Awards & Medals, Conferences and lectures
  • Supporting the Director of Architecture and Communications and the Practice Team in copy-editing and publishing RIAI Policies and guidance
  • Liaising with RIAI members and the public in matters relating to Architecture and Communications
  • Supporting the Director of Architecture and Communications with other tasks as they arise

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong communication skills for producing high-quality and strategic content
  • Ability to take the initiative and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Aptitude for communicating effectively with our key audiences of members, public and built environment stakeholders
  • Proven track record as a team player and relationship builder
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver events and programmes to a high standard
  • Strong networking and communication skills including the capacity to develop and strengthen links with RIAI expert committees and our partner organisations
