Description:
The School of Physics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Quantum Science with a particular emphasis in the area of quantum information and complexity. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate is expected to work in the area of quantum information theory with research interests that span complexity, thermodynamics and stochastic processes that are of particular relevance for the School.
In recent years the School of Physics at Trinity College Dublin has greatly expanded its research and teaching in the area of quantum science and technology and now has academic staff at all levels leading a growing team of post-doctoral and post-graduate researchers. It has also established an innovative MSc course in Quantum Science and Technology funded by the Higher Education Authority (Ireland), under the Human Capital Initiative Programme.
The successful candidate will work with other academic staff, researchers, and students in the lively, collaborative, and international research environment that already exists in the School of Physics and more widely in Trinity College Dublin. The appointment forms part of a large effort undertaken by the School of Physics and Trinity College Dublin with the ambition to create a Quantum Centre at the University. This will include collaboration with other Irish research organizations and industry with the vision of becoming the focal point for quantum research in Ireland.
