The Associate Director of Strategic Planning is a key role within the PVC Business Excellence organization at Alexion Pharmaceuticals. With Alexion’s growing portfolio this role is a key support to ensuring that the RDU has the appropriate strategic insights, initiatives, processes, technology and partnerships in place to deliver on its ambition. As part of the Strategic Planning team, the Associate Director will be expected to bring a strategic mindset in addition to proven supply chain operational expertise, financial understanding, strong leadership and excellent collaboration skills.   • Create adaptive, risk adjusted business frameworks to bring clarity efficiently and effectively to complex cross functional multilayer business scenarios, driven by internal and external factors, for commercial and clinical pipeline products.
  • Accountable for incorporating insights from both the Clinical Early Stage and the Late-Stage review process to develop a holistic long-range Master Plan for all products aligned to the RDU strategic network principles with a focus on strategic capacity planning, optimizing inventory, cogs & utilization considerations.
  • Develop and support the implementation of our digital and technology roadmap & infrastructure towards E2E visibility and concurrent planning with the rollout of our Control Tower and Digital twin of our supply chain - facilitating our purpose of providing informed, data driven insights to the business.
  • Provide expertise to the team and functional areas to anticipate, identify and resolve complex project issues which pose a challenge to achieving strategic goals.
  • Supports the Continuous Improvement process by aggressively seeking ways to improve Supply Chain processes and performance – taking ownership of the global process within the scope of the function.
  • Support different strategic groups on business planning and development to understand, anticipate, plan, and translate new business opportunities into executable plans.
  • Focus on the Strategic planning time horizon for long-range capacity planning for Capex and sourcing decisions based on Commercial and Clinical pipeline scenarios.
  • Escalate all major supply constraints and propose alternatives to the respective IBP forums for decision review and endorsement.
  • Support PVC & Business excellence groups translating Demand Reviews to Strategic Supply plans incorporating both volume and financial analysis.
  • Support the Strategic Product Leads to ensure product life cycle is supported, with supply/inventory/sourcing plans aligned to defined strategies and support product level IBP reviews
  • Support the IBP Supply Review quarterly meeting to incorporate major supply issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Actively participate and support New Product introduction to ensure that supply network plans are optimally created and that supply plans are executed in support of the established timelines.
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships with clinical, PDCS, site leads, product leads, EM&O, finance, quality and regulatory.
  • Actively support the Supplier Relationship Management team by providing collaborative rolling long-term production requirements
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place which meets compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills & digitalization experience
  • Ability to quickly establish strong, effective, and enduring partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong strategic mindset to ensure that global supply chain optimization is at the core of all decision making
  • Strong organizational, change management, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Global/EMEA supply chain experience in the pharmaceutical sector would be ideal
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
