Description:
The Associate Director, Managed Access Programs is responsible for leading the daily operational activities for Alexion managed access programs that provide special access to Alexion medicinces to patients who do not have access through other channels. The Associate Director also participates on the managed access program leadership team. The colleague plays a key role in the ongoing development of these programs in terms of strategy, policy and procedure, as well as managing the day-to-day operations, including case intake and evaluation, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position reports to the Head of Managed Access Programs & Data Generation Operations.
- Develop and and maintain managed access Policy, Standard Operating Procedure, and Work Instruction documents to ensure consistent application of the programs’ rules, and update these documents based on senior management feedback
- Review case submissions and determine whether the cases fit the outlined policies; respond to physicians as appropriate particularly for escalated cases. Conduct consultations with Medical, Clinical, Compliance, and other functional staff as needed to review access cases and arrive at decisions
- Train global medical affairs colleagues on managed access programs, case submission, and policies
- Develop statements of work and budgets for vendor contracts. Manage the program support vendor, ensuring performance expectations are maintained, including availability of a web-based request management platform
- Coordinate with Customer Operations/Supply Chain to ensure patients receive product as appropriate, including leading continuous improvement initiatives related to the program and responses to internal audits and external inspections
- Update Regulatory, Funding, Supply Chain database quarterly to ensure decisions are being made relative to the latest data
- Ensure the highest standards for Quality and Compliance practices are adhered to
- Participate on the Managed Access leadership team that oversees managed access programs
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required
- Demonstrated ability to implement projects of strategic importance on time and on budget
- Experience managing global projects with team members in multiple locations utilizing tools to standardize approaches and accurately track progress against major milestones
- Contractor / vendor management experience
- Foresight and judgment in making complex decisions, independently when needed
- Critical analysis and problem solving skills, with the ability to apply these skills pragmatically
- Ability to professionally interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Meeting facilitation skills (personal organization, advanced preparation, and follow-up)
- Strong command of the full Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
