This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the firm’s busy and dynamic Marketing and Business Development team at McCann FitzGerald LLP. The bids and proposals team manages a high volume of proposals and pitches for the firm. As a Bids and Proposals Manager at McCann FitzGerald LLP, you will play a key role in driving the firm's growth and success by leading the development and execution of strategic bids and proposals across all relevant client sectors for the firm.

 

Drawing on your expertise in legal services and a keen understanding of the competitive landscape, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to draft compelling pitches and proposals that showcase the firm's strengths and tailored solutions to meet clients' needs.

 

Your exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines will be instrumental in coordinating and leading the bid process, ensuring the highest quality submissions at all times.

 

This role will report to the Director of Marketing and Business Development and will work closely with the existing Marketing and Business Development team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Collaborate with partners, senior management and individual practice groups to identify, analyse and assess all PQQs, RFTs, RFPs and ITTs for public and private sector opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective bid strategies which are aligned with the firm's goals and market trends.
  • Oversee the entire proposal development process. This includes researching individual client needs and the specifics of each opportunity, drafting compelling submissions, and ensuring that the content is tailored, persuasive, and adheres to McCann FitzGerald LLP's branding guidelines.
  • Project manage (alongside the marketing and business development executives) the various elements of the submission process including communication and coordination of activities across the firm for each submission process.
  • Draft text and other content for inclusion in submission documents - this may be based on existing precedents or require original drafting (note that legal content will be written by our lawyers).
  • Collaborate with our graphic design team to originate visual supports for inclusion as necessary.
  • Occasionally, coach and prepare fee-earners in advance of pitch meetings or requests for presentations.
  • Post-submission, ensure that a full review and learnings from the submission process take place, including the capture of new content and any other market intelligence.
  • Maintain a centralised repository of proposal content, templates, and case studies our proposals management platform. Work with the marketing and business development executives to continuously update and improve this database to enhance the efficiency of future proposal development.
  • Stay up-to-date with proposal management tools and technologies to optimise efficiency and enhance the quality of proposals.
  • Track proposal metrics, success rates, and other KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the bid process and provide reports to partners and senior management.
  • Provide input to the development and implementation of other client and referral partner strategies, bringing the insights gained from your work on bids and tenders into the process.
  • This role will from time-to-time require you to assist with the submission process for key legal directories, as needs dictate.

 

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strategic thinker who understands the critical importance of bids and tenders to the firm and its broader role in client management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally but not necessarily in professional services.
  • Excellent written communication, project management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure to a high standard.
  • Attention to detail even when working in a fast paced, demanding environment.
  • Ability to effectively engage with and influence diverse teams of senior individuals.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, proactive and committed to assignment completion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is essential.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or other CRM systems would be beneficial.
