Description:
As a Character Clean-Up Artist, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining all character and prop design elements required for an exciting project. You will work as part of the Art/Design department and liaise closely with the Supervising Director, Animation Director and Rigging Lead.
You will be joining a close-knit team of artists so you will be proactive, driven, great at problem-solving, and you will thrive collaborating with different teams within the business.
This is a full-time, specified purpose role with hybrid working arrangements (i.e. a combination of both remote and in-studio working). Our studio is located in Dublin City Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Clean-up rough character and prop designs and draw additional views or angles where needed;
- Create draw-throughs to add to the rig model pack;
- Draw background characters in Toon Boom Harmony to help populate scenes;
- Clean up roughly drawn characters and create any special pose requests from the animatics;
- Work closely with the Rigging Team to provide additional artwork as needed;
- Add to or create, where necessary, turnaround model sheets, pose sheets, expression sheets, hand charts, head tilts, mouth and eye charts, and props;
- Adhere to the design and style of show;
- Maintain line quality throughout designs;
- Meet all deadlines as assigned/determined by the Production Manager;
- Keep all files and artwork named to the approved naming conventions and archived properly on ftrack and the relevant server;
- Keep design libraries organised and updated as per Production team instructions;
- Adapt techniques in accordance with new developments in the and Rigging teams.
- No prior experience necessary, however a portfolio that demonstrates your drawing skills will be required;
- Basic knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony is preferable but not essential;
- A good knowledge of Photoshop;
- Great aptitude for drawing and observation;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Good time management skills and an ability to work to deadlines;
- Must be flexible, willing to learn and self-motivated;
- Be able to work within a weekly quota and production schedule;
- Must have good interpersonal skills;
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
