Clerical Officer

 

Description:

The purpose of the position of Clerical Officer is to provide clerical back-up for a Department or Section within Cork County Council.

Clerical Officers are key frontline people who deliver a range of services to the public and internally within the Council.

Notwithstanding the requirements of the post, successful applicants may be assigned at any time to any services area/role within the Cork County Councils administrative area.
The duties may include but are not limited to the following and the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.

  • Dealing with customers at a variety of levels through various means of communication.
  • Processing applications for services in accordance with Council policies procedures and plans.
  • Carrying out a range of administrative tasks including photocopying, preparing letters/documents/presentations for public circulation, typing, minute taking, report/returns preparation, filing, arranging meetings, receipting/balancing payments including cash, handling internal/external mail.
  • Assisting in the development of policies from time to time.
  • Operation of the financial system and other local government systems.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned as part of the overall functioning of the relevant Department.
