Description:
The purpose of the CNM1 post in Haemoglobinopathy in collaboration with the CNS/ANP team is to improve the quality and service of care through the following:
- The CNM1 in Haemoglobinopathy will support CNS/ANP team with clinical caseload in Haemoglobin disorders throughout the hospital.
- Be a resource for colleagues, allied professionals and an advocate for the patient and ensure competence in area of specialty practice.
- In collaboration with Haemoglobinopathy CNS/ANP, be responsible for the provision of a nursing, education and management consultation service in all areas of Haemoglobin disorders.
- Provide a service, which optimises quality and continuity of care for patients in Haemoglobin disorders.
- The post holder will be required to work with the relevant consultant(s) as a key member of the multidisciplinary team providing care to patients.
- To co-ordinate and facilitate the discharge of patients with Haemoglobin disorders.
- To assist staff within the day care unit at OLHSC to organise the administration of treatment (e.g. blood transfusions and desferioxamine infusions) for children with Haemoglobin Disorders.
- To liaise with other departments within the hospital in the provision of care for patients with Haemoglobin disorders.
- Be registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
- Management Experience
- Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
- Experience of working with a multidisciplinary team
