Description:
Bantry General Hospital (BGH) comprises of 110 beds, located in West Cork, is part of the HSE South West network of hospitals. BGH provides acute general hospital services to the population of a unique, rural, very large geographical area encompassing West Cork and South Kerry. Its catchment population is 60,000, which increases by approximately 80-100% during the tourist season. The acute hospital services include the Department of Medicine, Medical Assessment Unit, Local Injury Unit, Acute Stroke Unit, Rehabilitation ward, Medical ward, High Dependency Unit, Endoscopy services, Surgery Day ward and a Palliative Care bed. Other services include Cardiology, Radiology, Laboratory, Outpatients, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, and Dietetics.
The CNM 2 for practice development will facilitate the introduction and implementation of Nursing initiatives in conjunction with Practice Development coordinator. The primary purpose of this post is to support training, education, auditing and implementation of nursing initiatives.
