Overview of Tallaght University Hospital Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is an exciting and dynamic place to work. The team at the Hospital are in the midst of implementing a new hospital strategy that has already delivered on the opening of a new renal unit, day surgery centre, step down facility in the community and the opening of a new ICU extension. The hospital is also in the process of implementing an Acute Floor Model with the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Age related Assessment Unit and Acute Surgical Assessment Unit now co located to allow for efficient streaming of patients from triage.

Further to this, TUH is now extending its services into the community. Our new TUH Homecare service will be a new service led by a Clinical Nurse Manager 3 in which Healthcare Assistants deliver quality personal care to patients locally. It will enable the patient to be safely and effectively discharged into the community while they await the HSE to appoint a care agency to deliver their home care package. It is envisaged that elements of ‘Virtual Hospital’ will be incorporated into this role, in addition to the establishment of an Enhanced Care Team.
