Description:
Limerick is a key driver within the Midwest region having developed a strong brand identity, increased economic and employment growth and a strong tourism offering.
Limerick City and County Council performs a leading role in shaping the strategic vision of the city and county. It provides a diverse, comprehensive and evolving range of services to citizens, businesses and visitors to the county which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, transportation, enterprise, leisure and community services.
Limerick City and County Council has been working with the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management of the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage on the Fire Services National Mobilisation and Communications System. This is part of the C Trí Project, which is implementing national policy as approved by the Minister of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The Project has delivered the next generation of fire services mobilisation and communications systems. While the current three individual regional systems have operated successfully since the early 1990s, the technology has now moved forward sufficiently to enable the establishment of one single national system, with communication nodes in the three former Regional Communications Centres. This national system will greatly enhance resilience in the three nodes and facilitate the distribution of costs on a national basis as well as the development of standardised national technological systems and operational processes to serve the public who need to make 999/112 calls.
An opportunity now exists in Limerick City and County Council for the role of Head of National Mobilisation and Communications System.
Working as part of a team with both Fire Services Chief Fire Officers and the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management, the Head of NMAC will be appointed at Chief Fire Officer level. The Head of NMAC will oversee a team of three Operations Managers at Senior Executive Officer level, a Finance Manager at Administrative Officer Level and four Assistant Operations Managers at Senior Staff Officer grade.
Full details of the requirements are available in the Candidate Information Booklet.
The Public Appointments Service is committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.
