Description:
The role of the Conservation Officer is to raise awareness and appreciation of architectural heritage by promoting a positive attitude to significant older buildings and by encouraging the realisation of their potential for viable continued use by owners.
To promote the conservation of the County’s architectural heritage; to advise and collaborate with Council Directorates and Municipal Districts on conservation matters, particularly, in the areas of Development Management and Enforcement in relation to statutory planning processes; to provide an effective and efficient advisory service to applicants, community and commercial stakeholders.
The Conservation Officer shall produce technical reports and advice in relation to the Architectural Heritage in the context of land use plans, projects and schemes and in the Development Management process; shall provide technical support and advice in relation to the Architectural Heritage, to stakeholders, including members of the public, applicants, council staff/ directorates and committees, including the HMAC; shall administer, process and monitor Cork County Council’s, Conservation Grants Scheme and National (Departmental) Grant schemes.
Cork County Council requires an energetic and motivated individual to deliver and develop best practice services. The successful candidate may be required to supervise additional internal resources and / or external service providers to ensure the effective delivery of conservation services.
