Position Overview

CRH is looking for a Corporate Sustainability Data & Mining Analyst within the Corporate Sustainability Reporting team. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting team forms part of Group Finance in CRH, based in Stonemason’s Way, Dublin. The team has responsibility for a number of internal and external reporting processes and performance analysis including parts of the Annual Report, the Sustainability Report, monthly CO2 and KPI reporting (currently being developed) and other regulatory and voluntary sustainability reporting.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting team oversees the collection, analysis, verification and reporting of sustainability information that covers environmental, social, safety and governance data sets from multiple source systems across over 220 operating companies primarily based in North America and Europe.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Enhance our approach to accessing and preparing structured, semi-structured and unstructured data from a variety of data sources
  • Assess existing systems, tools and reporting of ESG data and work closely with key members of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting team and wider stakeholders to advance the data architecture and storage into a data lake approach
  • Build the data repository as a shared source of truth for multiple teams that also provides end users direct access for their own purposes
  • Build out advanced analytics and dashboarding for both greater oversight of data integrity and provide more transparency, trend analysis and understanding to the organisation of its ESG information
  • Use of technology, data analytics and power BI to improve the efficiency of the review process
  • Provide high quality ad hoc analysis to senior management as requested to support decision making
  • Work with teams and third parties to implement ways of more automated and reliable capture of data from source systems
  • Provide training to end-users on new reports and dashboards
  • Ensure compliance with different legislation helping to develop KPIs to demonstrate performance and compliance
  • Develop a deep understanding of the data helping to develop user guidance around the metrics required
  • Work on projects such as Environmental review

Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience

You are/have:

  • Team player with ability to contribute both individually and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative; comfortable working in a demanding fast paced environment
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into non-technical terms
  • Experience in deploying data visualisation tools to visualise data to tell a story, define goals and able to be acted upon
  • Logical and creative thinking including ability to identify different ways to model data to maximise its use and value and identify problems in databases and processes
  • Degree from an accredited university or college in computer science, business information systems or similar
  • Work experience as a data analyst or in a related field and experience in managing large data sets and relational databases
  • Good systems capabilities and/or interest in reporting systems
  • Proficiency in visualisation tools and programming languages
