Data Protection Officer

 

Description:

The purpose of this post is to:

  • Inform and advise persons in CHI who are processing personal data of their obligations under the Regulations and other data protection legislation;
  • Monitor compliance with the Regulations, with data protection legislation and with the data protection policies of CHI and the HSE;
  • Raise awareness and arrange training of CHI staff involved in processing operations;
  • Provide advice where requested as regard to Data Protection Impact Assessment and monitor it;
  • Co-operate with the Data Protection Commission as the Supervisory Authority and act as a contact point on issues related to the processing of personal data, including prior consultation;

Act as the Point of Contact on all issues related to the processing of personal data and the exercise of rights under the Regulations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject relevant to the role.
  • Expert knowledge of the law and the practice relating to the protection of personal data, and the ability to lead out the functions specified in the Act.
  • Successful track record of developing and embedding a data protection/privacy programme that ensures early awareness and ownership of privacy risks.
  • Significant experience of monitoring risk compliance and performance reporting, as relevant to the role.
  • Experience of influencing and working collaboratively cross functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholders as relevant to this role.
