Description:
We are looking for a professional PostgreSQL Database Specialist (DBA) to join our engineering team and lead decisions relating to our database systems and server architecture. If you are passionate about the RDBMS and SQL itself, database performance monitoring, provisioning, security, understand RDBMS architectures, and are knowledgeable in best practice software development and deployment processes, we want to hear from you. We are primarily located in Dublin but are a remote team and will consider highly qualified applicants from other nearby locations.
Responsibilities
- Working with our Development teams to assist in defining and supporting database changes test and UAT/release support as needed
- Thinking outside the box to devise ways to improve our data manipulation/architecture
- Working closely with the technology team, taking requirements and design documentation as input, clarifying requirements as necessary to critique solutions, and being proactive in approach to tasks
- Participating in the Agile development methodology, including stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies as needed
- Helping define metrics for Pond5 systems that are useful and practical and looking at how we can iteratively improve what we do, including the automated 24/7 monitoring of our databases and system security
- Designing for system redundancy, Disaster Recovery, and failover
- Assisting with the resolution of day to day issues and queries relating to technology
- Modifying and running scheduled tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 + years experience working with any vendor RDBMS (preferably Postgres)
- Good knowledge of SQL is a must
- Ability to come up to speed quickly with our technology stack
- Performance Tuning, High Availability and Failover, Security and Data Transformation
- Experience working in an Agile environment with a geographically dispersed development team
- Experience with monitoring software (Sensu, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of product life cycle and deliverables
- Must be able to work on own initiative
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Must have excellent attention to detail, be persistent to get things done right, be highly organised and flexible, and work well in collaboration with a dynamic team
