Dublin City Council seeks to enhance the city’s attraction as a place in which to invest, to work, to live and to visit. The City Council takes the lead role in shaping the strategic vision of the city and the region and provides the essential services and the infrastructural capacity to sustain the life of the city.

An opportunity now exists in Dublin City Council for the position of Deputy City Architect.

The Deputy City Architect will support the City Architect in developing and implementing the City Council’s built environment strategy and programme. The City Architects Division is structured around teams, each focusing on a particular programme of work. Teams are led by Senior Architects. Each programme includes projects across a range of scale and complexity delivered through various procurement strategies. Projects are delivered by City Architect led multi-disciplinary design teams and Consultant Architect led multi-disciplinary design teams. A key priority across all programmes is sustainability and the need to make Dublin’s built environment carbon neutral and resilient to climate change.

The successful candidate will on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:

• hold a professional qualification in Architecture that is prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Architecture that is equivalent to the qualification so prescribed in Section 14 of the Building Control Act 2007 and;

• be eligible for registration as an Architect under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment by the employing authority will be subject to registration under the Act;
• have a good knowledge of the principle of sustainable Urban Design and planning policy and practice;
• have satisfactory experience at a strategic management level;

• have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organization or have the ability to

acquire such knowledge.
