Deputy General Manager

 

Description:

The Deputy Manager will report to General Manager and will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the business. The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy 4 star property.They are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager with strong management skills and people management skills.

 

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of the hotel operations. Ensuring that all areas of the hotel meet with the hotel’s standards of quality and service. Working with the General Manager and Management team to optimise profits and increase sales, promote new and diverse business. Provide support to the General Manager for all hotel operations and work directly with and support all Heads of Departments in all aspects of the running of the hotel.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Hands-on experience in hotel operations, specifically, Food & Beverage; Conference & Banqueting and Front of House
  • Responsible for all aspects of smooth operations in all departments.
  • Support the department managers.
  • Ensure the premises are in operative condition and able to receive and serve guests with service excellence.
  • Conduct regular operations team meetings with the Heads of Departments to discuss routine operational matters, sales targets, guest reviews and action taken for service recovery and also any staff issues.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedure implementation in all departments and check the same during routine operational checks.
  • Ensure a professional, friendly and courteous service to all guests. Ensure that guests are warmly welcomed and are dealt with in a professional manner
  • To be present around the building during the day. In particular, the Deputy Manager will maintain a lobby presence between the peak check in/out times, during lunchtime in around the lobby and restaurant and around the banqueting area during the peak tea/coffee times.
  • Is highly visible and interfaces with customers on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels and overall satisfaction, effectively responds to guest problems and complaints.
  • Ensure cleanliness is upheld in areas of responsibility.
  • Random inspecting of the stores (F&B, Kitchens) to check the stock in hand (quality, par stock levels, expiry etc)
  • Monitor the co-ordination between departments for smooth and efficient operations.
  • Identifying staff learning needs and assisting with development.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of commercial and financial knowledge.
  • Passionate about standards and provision of excellence in hospitality
  • Ability to lead and motivate a strong team of Departmental Managers and drive inclusiveness throughout the organisation
  • Help to achieve full room’s occupancy and that no rooms are blocked off.
  • Ensure that all appropriate action is taken and followed up on any guest feedback.
  • Deliver daily team briefings where required.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive handover system is in place to inform the General Manager of all the VIP’s, Special Requests, Function Business and AOB.
  • To look after requisitions outside of store hours ensuring that all documentation is completed.
  • To spot check guest bedrooms as required.
  • To conduct any Fire, Life, Safety projects as requested.
  • To get involved in and carry out training in the hotel.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels. A fluent level of English language is essential.
  • Understanding of Hotel related laws and regulations including Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations.

 

Key Skills and Experience include:

 

• Previous experience in a similar role in a 4-star property

• Excellent customer focused manner at all times

• Proactive positive attitude and must possess strong strategic thinking skills

• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels

• A good eye for detail and a desire to take responsibility, through to resolution, for issues and concerns generated by our guests

• Flexibility with working hours

• Strong PC Skills/MS Office and Reservations systems.
