IPS is hiring in Dublin! Due to continued growth w e are now looking to appoint a Design Manager to coordinate the activities of a multidisciplinary design team of 50+ professionals in support of a number of concurrent projects. This is a senior permanent position offering a competitive salary package and benefits commensurate with your experience. Day To Day Activities
- Lead, coordinate and act as a mentor to the multidisciplinary Design Team, ensuring the coordinated operation of the design disciplines.
- Liaise and agree resource assignments (Short to medium term) with the Discipline Leads to meet the requirements of all concurrent projects.
- Provide input into resource planning/allocation strategies (Medium to long term), consistent with the overall goals of the business.
- Provide an understanding of design dependencies/criticalities and develop design schedules in support of active projects.
- Develop, in agreement with the assigned project managers, a design execution plan for active projects aligned with the Project Execution Plan.
- Work with the discipline leads to establish an agreed scope of services / hours for all Design disciplines and/or Design Sub-contractors/Suppliers.
- Maintain the design effort in a state of “Audit Readiness” in compliance with the company’s Quality Management System.
- Participate in Quality Audits on active projects to ensure alignment to QMS.
- Provide technical guidance and direction in a managed and controlled manner in support of active design projects.
- Have the ability to develop accurate and reliable deliverables list and man hours estimates during the project bid process.
- Participate in project bid processes and/or support the bid coordinator by the provision of deliverables lists / Resource Requirements / design strategy input.
- Provide client interface where required in support of project execution.
- Manage and participate in all project design reviews, ensuring a fully coordinated Design strategy is in place and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver within the agreed project timeframe.
- Ensure that the relevant specification, guidelines, legislative considerations are applied to active projects.
- Ensure that fully coordinated design is produced that integrates with the agreed Project Execution Plan and that the design is regularly monitored on an Earned Value and/or a “Deliverables Run-Down” basis for progress.
- Ensure that any project approved changes are communicated accordingly and that deliverables list and resource schedules are updated accordingly.
- Have the ability to manage a design project from Concept through Detail Design as a Design Project Manager, or be able to take over a project at any stage if required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor Degree or equivalent in related subject (e.g. Engineering, Construction or Science)
- Proven level of experience in delivering complex and multi-disciplined EPCM projects in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical sector.
- Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen with the ability to manage projects to budget including man- hours and commercial targets.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to produce quality work and achieve project deadlines within budget.
- Results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business services.
- You must be able to critically assesses own performance and performance of others.
- Ability to lead, coordinate and supervise both internal and external teams.
- Display excellent written and verbal communication skills.
