Devops Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the SSE ECS IT DevOps Support Team based in Dublin. The DevOps Support Team manages multiple applications and services that are core to SSE Airtricity's business while also providing support to applications that are shared across SSE by liaising with SSE Group IT Shared Services functions.

Working closely with the IT Service Desk you will ensure incident and service request tickets relating to Networks, Telephony and Contact Centre services are managed in keeping with business expectations. You will also work with Application and Infrastructure support teams ensuring the correct focus and data is available to assist in troubleshooting service impacting incidents.

Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you'll deliver any network design changes – LAN, WAN, Remote Access, Internet Access solutions, and ensure network device configuration / management is correct.

You'll work alongside and support DevOps Support Team members, while taking ownership for specific elements within the portfolio.

You'll also be required to plan, design, deliver and support key application support solutions especially around the channels of the Contact Centre, maintaining an ethos that any repetitive task should be automated.

Playing a key role in the smooth integration of business functions and the relevant IT resolver groups to ensure a seamless IT service is provided, you'll also liaise with project delivery teams to ensure smooth transition into operational support to maximise support capabilities and minimise unplanned application downtime.

As SSE transitions to Agile working practices, you will be expected to support a transition of existing Operational support practices, into a more DevOps based approach championing culture and technology transformations within the organisation.

• A background in enterprise networking (routing and switching) environments is essential, and knowledge of Contact Centre services is desirable. A qualification in Cisco CCNA or equivalent would also be useful.

• Previous network management experience and a natural ability to gather data and troubleshoot problems in a controlled and methodical fashion.

• Broad technology background that lends itself to troubleshooting and incident management as well as experience working in a DevOps environment ideally.

• Experience working with managed-service partners and vendor management, and the ability to document and present service improvement proposals and solutions to key business and IT stakeholders.

• Knowledge of scripting tools and development practices that lend themselves towards process automation.
