Description:

The focus of the existing communications and PR function is expanding to support the strategic goals of the institute while continuing to deliver on existing goals of creating significant content to support student recruitment.

It is envisaged that the PR & Digital Executive will roll out the established programme of activity to support key audiences and student recruitment through the creation of graduate and student stories, course-specific stories, web content and day to day PR and social media activity.

Leaving Certificate – have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (Higher, Ordinary or vocational programmes) or equivalent

have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher.have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise

Appropriate first or second class level honours degree or equivalent from a recognised degree awarding authority

in a related area such as PR /Journalism /Marketing /Communications /Business

PRII or similar

Public relations, journalism or news writing experience

At least three years’ experience working in a PR environment or in journalism/news writing roles

Media relations experience

At least five years’ experience working in a PR environment or in journalism/news writing roles

Video creation and editing experience

Audio content creation and podcasting experience

The key responsibilities of the post-holder include:

  • The institute creates over 500 stories per annum and the PR & Digital Executive will use established lean processes to process these stories for web, online and social channels. The post-holder will gather, edit, upload and disseminate stories, liaising with staff across the institute.
  • Developing a process to create more video, audio and podcast stories to support student recruitment
  • Developing course stories beyond CAO undergraduate to postgraduate and part-time courses
  • Help to improve lean processes to gather and process the highest quality stories possible
  • Working with the Webmaster and other members of the team to improve dissemination of content through the institute’s online and social channels
  • Championing the creation of content and training staff in schools, departments and units to develop and process interesting content
  • Providing PR support for student recruitment campaigns to include the undergraduate, postgraduate, lifelong learning and international markets as well as each school, department and unit
  • Provide support to the main marketing and web functions as required
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Marketing & Communications Manager and/or other Senior Management.
