We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Driver/Adult Support Worker to join our team in Dublin Adult Service Day Centres in Crumlin and/or Rialto

Contract Type: Permanent

Contract Hours: 39 hours per week

Overall Purpose Of The Post

The role of the Adult Support Worker is to work as part of a team within adult day services to facilitate service owners with their daily programmes and to enable them to live the life they choose to live in accordance with the values of New Directions which underpin the principles of inclusion, rights, choice and independence in the community. It will also involve supporting service owners with: personal care needs, mobility and enabling them to access services of their choice in their community and assisting with delivering programmes on the virtual service. The post holder will support service owners to develop a range of options in relation to training, employment and having social valued roles in their community. The role of driver is to transport service owners to/from the day service and to access services of their choice in the community.

Duties

• To work as part of a team to facilitate service owners with day- to- day activities and programmes in the centre, in the community and on the virtual service.
• To support individuals to develop their skills, competencies and personal development so that they can develop and expand social roles and establish meaningful relationships.
• To act as a key worker for identified service owner(s) i.e. a member of staff appointed to assist service owner with identifying and achieving their goals and who is the key point of contact for the service owner and/or family.
• Maintaining a code of confidentiality and discretion in all dealings with service owners, families and staff.
• Transport Service Owner’s in service vehicles or on public transport to support the service owner to access their community.
• To promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of service owners at all times and adhere to all relevant Enable Ireland policies.

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will have:

• Minimum qualification: FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Social Care or relevant health related area or be undertaking this training
• Experience of working with adults with disabilities.
• Experience providing personal care to adults.
• Basic IT skills
• D Licence for Driver/Support Worker role or be willing to undertake this training and successfully attain it within 9month of taking up post

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working with adults in social/leisure setting.
• Experience of working in community/non-centred based setting.
• Experience in clamping wheelchairs.
