Senior Economist
Senior Economists at the Central Bank of Ireland carry out and supervise the conduct of high quality economic research and analysis, advancing our understanding on priority policy-related issues within the Bank’s mandate. Drawing on over 5 years of relevant experience, they develop and direct new models, tools and methodologies in order to improve the quality, accuracy, and impact of the Bank’s economic analysis for input into policy decision-making. Their expertise covers a wide-range of empirical and theoretical micro- and macro-economic techniques. Working independently, and in collaboration with colleagues within and outside the Bank, they mentor and engage in knowledge transfer. They display well-advanced communication skills, regularly sharing impactful insights from their work with senior management and with other internal and external stakeholders, up to and including peer-reviewed external publication. In doing so, they help ensure that the evidence-based approach and perspective of the Central Bank of Ireland is represented and enhanced with stakeholders in policy-making, academia, industry, civil society and the wider public. Depending on the specific role, they can expect to participate in ESCB working groups and task forces and/or have direct people management responsibilities. Senior Economists at the Bank Professional 1 grade also have a senior leadership role in setting the strategic direction of their function and in the delivery of research projects.
