We are recruiting an experienced EHS Engineer with a safety focus to join our growing team in AbbVie, Sligo Manorhamilton Road. This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the EHS Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, you will manage the day to day safety and environmental programs onsite and ensure that specific Site and EHS&E Projects are delivered in accordance with Site EHS Systems, Standards and all of the relevant Legislative and Corporate requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective risk identification and mitigation, compliance with EHS requirements, and achievement of EHS KPIs.
- Work as part of a cross-functional team, provide support to the management team and employees to achieve safety and environmental goals & objectives in line with the overall goals and objectives.
- Implement a range of EHS programs in conjunction with the EHS Team – e.g. EHS Auditing; Risk Assessment; Permit to Work; EHS Promotional Activities; Accident/Incident Investigation; EHS Training.
- Management of the facility’s Industrial Emissions License requirements and sites environmental management system and controls.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvements in the area of environmental to prevent significant environmental risks and drive an environmental continuous improvement program.
- Participate in the sites environmental sustainability program and associated projects to reduce the sites environmental footprint in water reduction, waste reduction & CO2 emissions.
- Preparation and submission of regulatory reports for the EPA, Irish Water, Sligo County Council, AbbVie Global EHS etc.
- Development of environmental policies and procedures.
- Anticipate environmental impact associated with new product introductions and work closely with Global EHS and/ or external parties to mitigate environmental impact and risk.
Qualifications
- 3rd level degree in Engineering, Science, Health & Safety, Environmental Science or similar (if primary degree is in Engineering/Science, then additional EHS focused qualification is preferred)
- 3 years EHS experience in pharmaceutical / medical device industry
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and decision-making skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining close attention to detail
