Join our Power System Studies Team in the centre of engineering for ESB’s Transmission & Distribution businesses where we provide consultancy services in T&D technology for external clients. The Power System Studies Team is a dedicated group of engineers and consultants providing specialised power system modelling and analysis services to clients in Ireland and overseas, typically involving computer modelling and simulation of different aspects of electrical power systems.

The role of the power system studies engineer is to project-manage and carry out a range of technical power system studies, including but not limited to the connection of various generation, synchronous and non-synchronous, to the system. Knowledge of low carbon technologies and their impact on the power system is desirable.
Assisting in carrying out and documenting technical studies such as power flow, short-circuit, transient stability studies, protection relay settings and other technical studies.
This role is based in ESB EMP Dublin office but travel to project locations both nationally and internationally as required, is a key requirement of the role.ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and we call this Smart Working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working. The successful candidate can combine remote/smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
