The person holding this position is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree. Maintain throughout the Hospital awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:m

  • To carry out all aspects of electrical work in the hospital assigned to him/her.
  • To take control of all work and duties assigned to him/her.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance / installation of equipment and plant and to arrange for the supplies of materials as necessary for the execution of all work.
  • To perform services on an on call basis as required.
  • Be available to work overtime from time to time ensuring hospital business as usual function is maintained.
  • Be available to support colleagues as an emergency responder to facilities related issues.
  • To perform the duties of electrical crafts person in any hospital department or at such other locations deemed necessary to ensure business continuity.
  • To maintain a satisfactory standard of work ensuring compliance to legislative standards.
  • To report to immediate supervisor on any irregularities that might adversely affect the performance of assigned duties.
  • To perform such duties appropiate to his/her trade as may be assigned by the foreman/ Technical Services Manager/ Electrical Engineering Manager or other assigned persons.
  • To maintain such records and systems as may be required from time to time, and ensure that all documentation within the department is completed satisfactorily and efficiently.
  • Attend to the maintenance and routine repairs of all electrical services, plant and equipment. This shall include installation, maintenance/preventative maintenance and repairs of associated electrical plant for heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems medical gas pipeline systems, hot and cold domestic water systems, drainage systems, and other electrical systems under the direction from line management.
  • Be responsible for such duties as assigned by the Electrical Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager or delegated person.
  • Keep books, records and carry out such tests, as may be required.
  • Operate and carry out planned preventative maintenance programmes as set out by the Electrical Engineering Manager, Technical Services Manager or delegated person.
  • Carry out other associated trade duties.
  • Operate and work with new technology and provide and maintain such written and computerised records, as required from time to time.
  • Liaise with outside contractors, as required.
  • Operate within existing productivity agreements.
  • Be accountable for all tools, stock or equipment under his/her control and to ensure that all such equipment is kept in the proper state of repair in accordance with safety standards.
  • To maintain the High Voltage Electrical Systems and Standby Generators.
  • To maintain LV Electrical Power Supplies such as Distribution Boards, UPS’s and IPS’s.
  • To maintain Fire Protection systems such as Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting and Fire Doors.
  • To maintain Electrical Control and Monitoring Systems such as KNX and BMS as required.
  • Knowledge of Lift systems to include traction and hydraulic systems.
