We are recruiting an Engineering Technician to join our site in Manorhamilton Road, Sligo. The primary function of the Engineering Technician is to provide a Manufacturing Engineering service to the plant, to maximise the availability of Manufacturing Equipment. This person will ensure continual compliance with the policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering, Safety and Finance. This person will ensure the performance of day to day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment and liaise with Production to ensure equipment performance is maximized. The Engineering Technician will also maintain records and documentation on relevant Engineering Procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance. They will also liaise with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting, and installing/commissioning equipment to facilitate the implementation of equipment projects.

  • Establish with the engineering team leader the department goals, schedules, and timetables for activities.
  • Stay abreast of developments in technology relevant to the processes being carried out on site.
  • To maintain records and documentation on relevant Engineering Procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance.
  • To ensure the performance of day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment.
  • To liaise with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting and installing/commissioning equipment.
  • Ensure successful external, divisional, and corporate audits.
  • Cross train within manufacturing and engineering to generate job aids to assist with the engineering related activities.
  • Adhering to all relevant policies relating to Quality & Safety.
  • Implementation of equipment/process upgrade in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Support the Production Team in ensuring that manufacturing equipment is maintained to meet the output and yield requirements.
  • Required to undertake specific investigations, data analysis and equipment monitoring, with the view to improve manufacturing performance e.g. reducing plant maximizing Plant output and yield.
  • It may be necessary to re-design elements of manufacturing machinery to adapt to process conditions to improve efficiency.
  • Considerable and continual care and attention needed to avoid substantial damage to equipment.
  • Continual attention needed to ensure plant reaches its annual production plan.
  • Relevant Electrical, Mechanical trade exams or academic engineering qualification to Ordinary degree level at a minimum. Automation experience is an advantage.
  • Detailed functional knowledge required of wide range of manufacturing equipment is required. Example: Tablet Coating, Tablet Press, Capsule Filling, Single Pot Processors, Dry Granulators, Fluid Bed Dryers, Blenders, Isolators, Purified water systems, Air Handling Units preferrable.
  • Strong IT knowledge is required.
