In terms of the English Lang/Lit Teacher role, we’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s IB curriculum, creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through inquiry, questioning and discussion.
The Student Counsellor aspect of the role is expected to provide short-term solution focused Counselling and Mental Health supports to the school's student community. This position is a combined role for a fixed term contract to cover for maternity leave.
About you
Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a university degree, qualified teacher status, a recognised counselling qualification along with membership of a professional regulating body with a code of ethics (PSI, IACP, IAHIP or equivalent), and experience of working with children and young people students with emotional, psychological, social, personal and/or academic needs to the table. Previous experience of teaching English Language & Literature and Student Counselling, preferably with some familiarity of IB programmes together with working in a diverse organisation is desirable. Committed and professional, you will have the competence to provide high quality one to one counselling, group-work and additional student-specific supports to the student community and know when to refer students to external services and supports. You will also be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa/work permit-related restrictions for Ireland.
