Environment & Planning Solicitor

A significant leadership opportunity awaits a senior solicitor with consistent experience in planning and environment, climate, and sustainability issues. You will have a key ownership role in a multidisciplinary function within the Dispute Resolution and Regulatory department of this leading Dublin practice.

 

This self-contained unit will draw on the expertise of multiple industry leaders within the firm currently active in various Planning & Environment matters. This primarily contentious unit will lead, deliver, and coordinate the firm’s planning and environmental offering, working closely with other departments, particularly the infrastructure, construction, and energy group, in a well-defined and operationally excellent structure.

 

You will be ambitious, a rising star or known market leader within the planning and environment law arena, and have demonstrated leadership capacity and the ability to work as part of a team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong internal relationships and engage constructively with the firm’s significant client base.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and state agencies.
  • Act in planning judicial review proceedings brought against state agencies and authorities.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice to clients on all aspects of planning and environmental law, including development control and environmental impact assessment.
  • Advise on planning applications, appeals, and inquiries, as well as judicial review and statutory challenges.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with local authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' experience primarily in planning and environmental law, or with a strong track record in Planning & Environment advisory and contentious or non-contentious legal services in this sphere.
  • Excellent relationship building and management skills.
  • Excellent legal drafting skills and the ability to provide clear and concise advice to clients.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, with some potential for a client following.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, market precedents/know-how, and policy documents.
  • Ability to work independently and show a level of entrepreneurial leadership.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
