IMMA’s Engagement & Learning Department is at the heart of the Museum, producing physical and digital programming for ever broadening audiences, from the casual visitor to school groups to academic and expert communities. Pioneering new initiatives to connect with audiences and communities nationwide, IMMA seeks to become an ever more open and inclusive space for its staff and the public.
Working with the Head Research and Learning, research and develop IMMA’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion policy building on the research and delivery of IMMA’s contribution to the SPICEproject, creating workshops and events, with specific consideration for people who are excluded or underrepresented in society, including those living with illness, disability, where physical access to the museum is a challenge.
Key projects include IMMA’s Horizons programme; Dublin City University/Sanctuary programme/The Mellie Project; National Children’s Hospital; Helium Arts; and local community engagement in Dublin.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Key responsibilities to be undertaken based on priorities agreed with Head of Department and subject to the needs of the Department/ Programme.
1. Curatorial Research and Development
· To work with Head of Research and Learning to identify and engage
audience groups with whom to partner in the research, development, and delivery of our ambitious new strategy to be radically public.
· To maintain an in-depth knowledge of developments in art museums,
education and public engagement practices.
· To work with partners in Ireland and internationally to develop partnerships in support of IMMA’s strategic objectives.
· To develop innovative workshops and engagements that create
opportunities for specific audiences to engage with and feed into thinking on IMMA’s programmes.
2. Content and Communication
· To develop and deliver content in support of IMMA’s strategic objectives
including an Equality Diversity and Inclusion policy document, reports for project partners and stakeholders, publications and digital content as
required.
· To work with the Development and Communications teams to provide
appropriate, high level information relating to Equality Diversity and
Inclusion policy and programmes at IMMA.
· Regular and effective communication to across departments at IMMA to ensure this work is embedded in the institution.
· Contributing to IMMA’s overall Public Engagement programme including the delivery of talks, lectures, events etc.
3. IMMA Representation
· Reporting on Equality Diversity and Inclusion at IMMA in collaboration with the Head of Research and Learning as required.
· Acting as an ambassador and advocate for IMMA at a national and
international level, with a particular focus on developing longer term
partnerships and presenting research for IMMA.
· Supporting IMMA’s Strategy through engagement with donors and
corporate partners.
4. Programme Evaluation
· Working with the Engagement and Learning team, Programme and Collections teams, Operations Team, Visitor Engagement Team stakeholders and other curators and programmers to undertake evaluation of IMMA’s Programming and accessibility.

5. Cross Functional
· Contribute to ongoing cross-functional team structures as required.
CURRENT KEY DELIVERABLES
· Actively contribute to the development and delivery of an internationally recognised Engagement and Learning programme that creates engaging opportunities for a range of audiences to interact with IMMA.
· Coordinate the research and development of an Equality Diversity and
Inclusion policy for IMMA.
· The creation of online resources based on IMMA’s Collection.
· Identify current and future participant groups to access, co-develop and
inform IMMA’s equality, diversity and inclusion agenda over the 3 year
period.
· In collaboration with colleagues and project partners, design curriculum and learning programmes to suit the targeted groups.
· Gather data both qualitative and quantitative under an agreed framework.
· Gather testimonials and other evidence from the participants after each session.
· Input it into reporting mechanisms. Produce regular reports and updates on work and progress for IMMA.
· Effective management of all the resources available to support the
delivery of the programme to ensure the highest level of programme is
delivered.
