Executive Engineer

 

Description:

The Executive Engineer will be expected to supervise, control and carry out engineering / ancillary services given to them within the service area to which they are assigned, these services area may include, but are not be limited to, Road Maintenance, Design and Construction, Water and Drainage Services, Environmental and Climate Services and Housing Maintenance and Construction, Public Realm Maintenance and Design and Construction.


The Executive Engineer will operate under the direction of and report to the Senior Executive Engineer / Senior Executive Parks Superintendent / Senior Engineer / Senior Parks Superintendent (Supervisors) of the section to which they are assigned. They must undertake those duties as assigned to them by their Supervisor. The Executive Engineer will also report to the Director of Service of the section to which they are assigned, or any other person designated by the Director of Service. Notwithstanding the requirements of the post successful applicants may be assigned to any service area / role within the Local Authority at an analogous level by the Chief Executive at any time.

Main duties would depend on the actual post, but in general terms Executive Engineers work in the Environment Water and Climate Change Directorate and the Land Use Planning and Transportation Directorate. There are also Engineering roles in the Housing, Social and Community Development Directorate and the Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Development Directorate.

Each candidate must hold an honours degree in Engineering and have at least five years satisfactory relevant Engineering experience
