RWE’s offshore wind business in the UK and Ireland is growing rapidly with new developments and opportunities arising on a frequent basis. The Finance Manager role focusses principally on offshore wind farm projects in the accounting team, working closely with the controlling and project teams. The offshore wind farms across the Ireland are at the development stage and are each held by an individual company. The role will include overseeing the production of management, statutory accounts and technical accounting advice in respect of each wind farm company. Additional requirements will include overseeing the financing of the companies, cash management and planning, quarterly reporting to RWE group, and liaising with auditors and co-investors where appropriate. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved with new business developments and to lead specific accounting projects.
- Assist in delivery of reporting to RWE group and other stakeholders.
- Manage the preparation of the management accounts
- Manage the preparation of annual statutory accounts (together with audit-standard working papers)
- Provide assistance with audit scheduling and resolution of audit queries
- First point of contact for finance matters relates to specific wind farm projects.
- Work closely with auditors, tax advisors, accounting advisors, and internal RWE departments including group accounting, controlling, project teams, commercial team and the shared service centre.
- Inquisitive and challenging – understanding in detail the cost and income elements and having the ability to identify potential issues and challenge assumptions where appropriate.

- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and group policies
- General business knowledge and awareness of the wider renewable energy industry
- Attend management meetings, including presentation and discussion of financial reports
- Liaising with the RWE shared service centre to resolve issues and improve processes
- Regular formal and informal meetings with project controllers to discuss accruals and any advice on accounting impacts of project actions
- Influencing both internal and external stakeholders
- Organisation – self-motivated to develop own plan and good prioritisation of requirements
- Challenging – possessing the confidence to challenge assumptions and theories rather than simply accepting
- Communication – the role holder is required to be able to discuss financial issues with both non-finance and finance experts, whilst being able to grasp non-financial issues (e.g. legal and basic technical subject matter)
- Presentation - able to present information in a clear and concise manner, identifying the key information for the recipients
- Microsoft Excel - intermediate level (required)
- Application of IFRS (required)
- SAP or equivalent ERP system capabilities (desired)
- CCH accounts preparation software (desired)
- Understanding of IFRS
- Firm business knowledge and awareness of the wider energy industry (desired)
- Qualified accountant with recognised accounting body - ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
- Accounting experience in practice or industry essential;
- Management accounting;
- Statutory accounts preparation or auditing;
- Relationship management (internal / external parties).
