Ballyhoura Development is a community-led Local Development Company, and a registered charity, which works with communities, families, individuals and businesses in the Ballyhoura region of East Limerick and North Cork. The company has successfully managed, coordinated and implemented a wide range of national and European projects and programmes since its establishment in 1989, and currently delivers over 30 programmes, focussing on three key aims of:

We are currently looking to recruit a Finance Officer. The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the finances of programmes and projects and growing a social enterprise customer base for a range of company secretarial, financial management, training & compliance products and services. The successful candidate will focus on administration of EU and state funded programmes, developing and growing a range of finance and corporate governance services to social enterprises.
 


Key responsibilities will focus on administration of EU and state funded programmes, developing and growing a range of finance and corporate governance services to social enterprises.

Administration of Ballyhoura Development EU and State Funded Programmes, as assigned.

Assist in the formulation and implementation of budgets including the annual operations master budget of Ballyhoura Development.

Provide the administrative skill to implement the financial requirements of Ballyhoura Development.

Prepare monthly financial reports for presentation by the Financial Controller to the Board, to financial institutions and any such other reports which may be required.

Organise draft board agendas and meetings of the investment companies, including the issuing of notices and associated information and ensure compliance with Memorandum and Articles of Association and statutory requirements e.g. Company Law and Regulations, Collector General, the CRO etc.

Maintain accounts, invoices and payments, external audit requirements, company files, seal and leases, adequate insurance cover and prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors of investment companies.

Grow investment companies business, through liaising with/sourcing tenants, agreeing and maintaining leases, monitoring and follow up on payments, operational maintenance and day to day operations.

Develop and provide a range of low cost financial and governance technical support products for social enterprises to enable them to maximise their social and economic benefit, including the provision of financial and corporate services e.g. financial recording and reporting, Company secretarial services including filing with the CRO.

Disseminate information and create awareness to improve knowledge and uptake of the range of low cost social enterprise supports available to social enterprise.

Anticipate opportunities and develop appropriate new products and business opportunities for gaps in social enterprises supports, skills and services.

Develop and drive strategic collaborative partnerships focused on developing targeted responses to social enterprises.

Participate in the development and delivery of inter-territorial and transnational projects.

Monitor inputs, outputs, outcomes and impacts through data collection, reports, case studies and by any other means which may be required by the company and/or programmes.

Participate in and comply with all company actions and activities relating to continuous improvement, such as the Q Mark, the Governance and any other continuous improvement processes implemented by the company.

Understand, be aware of and comply with all company policies and procedures.

Attend any compulsory training organised by the company, and participate in other training events or courses relevant to your role.

Carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the line manager, Chief Executive or Board from time to time.
 


Key Skills & Requirements :
Excellent administrative/accounting skills

A good working knowledge of accounts software

Experience of payroll administration work

High proficiency in Microsoft Office essential, particularly in the use of Excel.

Good communication skills

An ability to work on his/her own initiative.

Ability to work independently and also as part of fast paced dynamic team, adhering to tight deadlines

Must be self-starter and have the ability to multi-task and have excellent attention to detail

Full clean driving licence and own transport.
