Description:
Our clients, a large not-for-profit organisation, are looking to recruit an experienced FC to join their team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Controller (FC) will support the CFO in the overall financial management with regard to accounting, reporting and operational support to all companies within the group.
They will lead and oversee the day-to-day activities of a small finance team and ensure the companies finance functions are efficient and operate to tight monthly deadlines and focus on continuous improvement of the finance function.
The Role:
- Day to day staff management of 6 finance staff, providing ongoing support, coaching and training to the team.
- Ensure financial procedures are adhered to and accounts receivable and accounts payable are accurate, effective and timely.
- Authorise purchase orders and expenditure, including payments of staff expenses and supplier invoices.
- Oversee the weekly and monthly payroll processes.
- Management of the team to tight monthly deadlines for all monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of Group and Services management accounts, including posting to the accounting system.
- Consolidation of all subsidiary accounts and presentation to CFO by day 15 after month end.
- Cash flow management on a monthly basis and cash flow forecasting on a quarterly basis.
- Manage the year-end audit including preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with Charity SORP (FRS102) and coordination with external auditors.
- Management of Budget setting on an annual basis and reporting of actual versus budget on a quarterly basis internally.
- Preparation of donor Reports as required for Foundation and Services.
- Management of Pension administration and control.
- Assist the CFO in managing internal audits including partner audits.
- Support the CFO to develop, present and monitor annual and longer term financial budgets.
- Work closely with the CFO and board sub-committees to ensure good financial governance.
- System and process improvements – review existing accounting systems and controls and identify and develop systems to deal with organisational growth, in line with existing and emerging best practice, audit, and charity compliance requirements, with a focus on automation, systems integration and efficiency.
The Role:
- Qualified ACA/ACCA with minimum 3 years post qualification experience in an equivalent senior role.
- Systems focused with an eye on continued process improvement and process efficiencies necessary for growth.
- The ability to manage and prioritise own workload and that of your team, and work with flexibility, reliability, and particular initiative to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated relationship management skills and experience in working in a supportive manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with a range of professionals from broad backgrounds.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational, administrative and time management skills.
- Experience in using accounting software packages.
- Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Background in not for profit organisation an advantage
