Front End Engineer

You will be working with highly motivated and extremely talented engineers on the Search and Discovery team, which will strive to deliver a quality and performant search experience for the end-user. We believe strongly in team ownership of systems, which includes defining the vision of the services to prioritization of projects.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all aspects of the services under the team’s ownership, which includes design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and uptime of the services.

• Participate in code review, paired programming.

• Collaborating on the development of the services under the team's ownership.

• Building the technology the right way: for us, this means simple, well-tested systems that gradually grow over time, and that provide plenty of insight into production performance.

• Engineers are expected to support systems they develop in production which involves on-call. The actual periods and frequency vary by team.

Requirements:

• At least 2+ years of relevant software development experience

• Experience in one or more OO languages.

• Experience with JavaScript

• Experience with front end frameworks for example React, Vue.js etc.

• Good knowledge of how the Web works e.g. HTTP, caching, page rendering, etc.

• Experience using RESTful API’s

• Understanding of SOA architectures

• Familiarity with at least one RDBMS technology.

• Solid software development fundamentals (Data Structures, algorithms, problem-solving, OO Design, and system architecture).

• Passionate about what you do and care deeply about the things you build.

• Able to clearly communicate to team members.

• Has a good understanding of continuous delivery.

• Writing unit tests, integration tests and automated testing.

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related experience.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience working with Cloud based infrastructures like AWS and container based deployments like Docker.

• Experience using message-driven architecture using tools like RabbitMQ, Kafka etc.

• Experience working in an agile environment
