Description:
The successful applicant will have a sustained track record of excellent leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary environment and an established research profile of international standing. They ideally will have experience in a multilingual setting, will be a successful advocate of language rights, and have a strong commitment to profiling Languages both within and beyond the Higher Education context and a clear vision for building on the School’s multiple strengths in both teaching and research. Expertise in the creative industries, creative technologies, or digital/computational humanities would be an advantage. Ideally, the successful candidate should be a good fit with dominant research areas in the School or areas they wish to develop, such as International Encounters/Migration, Local and Global Legacies, Historic or Applied Linguistics.
The successful applicant will be expected to lead on developing and implementing the School’s five-year strategy, play a full role in shaping the intellectual community of the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies, and make a strong contribution to the University environment more broadly. They will oversee a period of growth and investment in the School that is part of a wider programme of strength in sustainability being rolled out across the College.
