The Academic Registry wishes to recruit a Head of Student Finance. This is a full time, permanent role. The successful candidate will be a member of the Academic Registry Leadership team and a key player in the financial management of the tuition income stream in Trinity College Dublin. The Head of Student Finance holds primary responsibility for all the activities of the Student Finance function within Academic Registry.

The post holder will be a Qualified Accountant. The role will require extensive experience of leading a team and managing cultural, process and systems change preferably, but not exclusively, in a third level institution and/or public sector.

The Head of Student Finance will report to the Director of Academic Registry. The Academic Registry operates a hybrid working arrangement.

Context

Student Finance is one of four functions and is responsible for the administrative and financial activities associated with student finance including:

• Billing and collection of student and sponsor fees.

• Administering student funding for approx. 21,000 registered students; SUSI grant, HEA Free Fees Initiative, student loan schemes, sponsorships, funding waivers, student payments and refunds.

• Accounting for Academic Fee income through the completion of financial month ends, quarter ends and year end reconciliations, journaling and analysis.

• Reporting and analysis of Academic Fee income.

• Creating new fee profiles for new academic courses.

The billing and collection of student related fees and charges is the main source of Trinity’s income. This significant income stream requires a strong level of financial control and governance to ensure controls, financial reporting and forecasting, and debt management processes are in place.
