Description:
Our client are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join them in Dublin. Initial working on a Pharma project in Dublin, the Health and Safety Officer will play a critical role in promoting a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards, and mitigating risks across all stages of project execution.
This role requires keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with workers, management, and stakeholders. Experience in the construction or engineering sector is highly desirable, though not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce compliance with all health and safety regulations, ensuring that projects meet legal and company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions to ensure worker and site safety.
- Organize and lead safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and induction programs for new employees and contractors, keeping all team members informed of safety practices and protocols.
- Respond to accidents or near-miss incidents, carrying out thorough investigations, and documenting findings to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, prepare regular safety reports for management, and assist in the preparation of project-specific health and safety documentation.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures, ensuring that all employees are trained and aware of the correct actions to take in the event of an emergency.
- Ensure the correct use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all project sites, conducting regular checks and addressing non-compliance promptly.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or certification in Health and Safety or a related field; NEBOSH or IOSH certification preferred.
- Previous experience in health and safety, ideally in a construction or engineering environment, is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices, with a commitment to staying updated on industry changes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and promote a safety-first mindset across diverse teams.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work on-site across multiple project locations.
- Valid driver’s license.
