Intern, Design / Layout

Description:

The internship offers an opportunity to work alongside recent graduates and participate in the development of leading-edge products. This unique environment strongly emphasizes on-the-job training for the young engineers already employed within the centre. Interns will join this program and be assigned roles on real production IC designs. There will be opportunities in Layout Design, Analog Design and Digital Design using industry standard design tools and methods. With our Design Centre still growing and hiring graduate engineers, a successful internship provides an excellent opportunity to secure a full-time position upon final graduation.

Typical tasks will include;

• Modification of analog and digital circuits to fit new specifications
• Simulation and verification of analog circuits, digital circuits and mixed signal chips
• Drawing IC layout to implement circuits
• Performing parasitic extraction and then simulation of circuits
• Performing physical verification and tape in procedures
• Presenting design reviews for review by peers and supervisors

Minimum Qualifications:

• Good computing skills, preferably with some programming skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Committed to further learning, with a passion to develop a career in the semiconductor Industry

Preferred Qualifications:

• Course modules relevant to Analog or Digital IC design
• Course modules covering switching DC/DC converters such as Buck and Boost topologies.
• Course modules covering close loop control systems
• Any practical experience with IC or FPGA design tools for design, simulation, or layout
