The Job:

ILFS Advice Solutions Digital & Technology team has an exciting role opportunity for an IT Development Manager. This role will lead a development team to support delivery of our Digital & Technology Strategy for Irish Life.

 

The newly formed Digital & Technology team is bringing together our digital capability from across the Irish Life Group. Aligned with the 2028 Group Strategy it is prioritising delivery of seamless digital experiences for all our customers.

 

The IT Development Manager will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, UX and UI Design, QA, Business Stakeholders and the wider IT community to develop best-in-class digital experiences.

 

You will utilise your developer skills to enhance the experience and performance of digital properties across the organisation. You will provide ongoing support to your team to ensure continuous improvement and skills development.

 

You will be a member of the Digital & Technology Management team to lead delivery on our Digital & Technology Strategy.

Key Accountabilities

 

Team Management

  • Lead an IT Development team to effectively deliver successful projects and initiatives to the highest quality standards and to schedule.
  • Day to day management of the delivery team which will include
  • Distribution of work across the team and management of delivery
  • Motivating, managing, coaching , and developing a team of IT professionals to achieve their potential.
  • Lead & support skills transfer within the team and across the business.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement of team and processes.
  • Develop system of regular feedback loops with other IT areas to support implementation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a desire to understand and deliver on customer and other stakeholder requirements.

 

 

 

 

IT Development

  • Agreeing requirements with stakeholders / product owners, managing expectations and leading ongoing interactions & communications.
  • Building, Testing & Implementing Digital Solutions to support delivery of Digital Strategy
  • Designing IT solutions to progress the business and technical agendas for the Digital & Technology Area

  • A significant number of years IT experience, including Team Leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Strong Interpersonal and People Management skills to support leading a team to successful outcomes
  • 7+ years applications development experience
  • Broad experience across all elements of the SDLC – understands and is comfortable working in and across all phases of the SDLC.
  • Experience with React, Storybook and Content Management Systems (CMS) desirable.
  • Understands UX principles and methodologies including User-Centred Design and Design Thinking.
  • A strong blend of technical ability, with working knowledge of Insurance Division IT systems and proven experience of applying DevOps & AGILE principles to development projects.
  • Strong experience with .net technology stack and the building of services and APIs
