Our Practice Services department has an excellent opportunity for a KM Manager in the Cincinnati, Atlanta, or Columbus offices. This is an exempt, remote position that reports to the Director of Practice Services. This role will champion the development of innovative digital solutions and processes to help the Firm better serve its clients and create a competitive advantage. The KM Manager will support key projects and initiatives focusing on improving knowledge management across all six core practice areas. The role will support projects on intelligent automation, research and development on emerging technology, integrating technology into our legal services, and help our attorneys achieve embracing a comprehensive digital strategy to serve clients.
Responsibilities
- Manages the evaluation, selection and implementation of new digital solutions, identifies ways to optimize practice workflows, and supports practice-centric data models to deliver exceptional client service centered on value, cost-effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and predictability
- Through close partnership with the business, listen to the data needs, translate into analytics use cases and provide support to execute the solution
- Enables the capture of substantive practice-specific data across the Firm and creates visual summaries of information in dashboards that tell the story behind the data
- Identify opportunities and recommend strategies to collect and leverage structured data from unstructured repositories and databases
- Work closely with internal technical team members on information sources and architecture
- Identify practice pain-points and use cases for legal technology tools, recommend solutions, develop and facilitate administration of pilot plans or proofs of concept, communicate and drive adoption around launch of new solutions
- Prepare and send project-related communications and reports, feedback, tracking milestones, budget, and related project dependencies for project team, steering committee, stakeholders and vendors
- In collaboration with the Legal Innovation team, identifying the toolsets and solutions best able to address the various needs of the Firm
- Work with stakeholders to understand and analyze business needs, and prepare business case documentation for proposed projects
- Develops and maintaining designated practice sites and other know-how repositories, curating practice sites content and ensuring they are aligned with the needs of the practices
- Facilitate taking business requirements and translating those needs to key developers as well as helping to build appropriate solutions
- Capture feedback for continuous improvement of KM products and processes by working closely with legal practice teams to create a deep understanding of legal process optimization efficiency opportunities
- Proactively use the most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency. Support requirement specifications of the Project Management Office (PMO). Develop strong understanding of advanced technologies and trends in the industry as they pertain to law firms and demonstrate awareness of knowledge management trends to deliver superior legal services
- Help educate attorneys on emerging tech and maintain a virtuous feedback loop
- Build strong relationships across the firm, external networks, and with clients

Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years prior management experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) required with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Law firm or legal department experience is highly desirable. Experience with knowledge management preferred; MBA or Juris Doctorate is a plus
- Thorough understanding of advanced legal technologies that can be applied to Firm operations and enhance working efficiency
- Proven aptitude to learn new software applications. Demonstrated ability to employ software at the power-user competence level
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint. Demonstrated proficiency with Access or other database applications
- Commitment to knowledge-sharing, efficiency and excellence in legal work
- Strong analytical and communication skills in both oral and written formats
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all levels of professionals, support staff, and clients. Ability to manage and exceed expectations and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy, and professionalism in these interactions

- Strong project management skills. Project and team management experience with attention to detail and a willingness to “roll up sleeves” and operate at whatever level is needed to accomplish tasks

- Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters and to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information
- Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary and travel as required or permitted
