Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited is now pleased to invite applications for the position of Laboratory Technician in Castlefarm, Mitchelstown within the Dairy Food Ingredients Division. This is a temporary seasonal role.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Technician is responsible testing samples accurately, in a timely manner, and reporting of results to the site team.
The current requirement for this position is day and night shifts.
Core responsibilities for this role include:
Carry out chemical/ microbiological analysis as per relevant plans for In Process samples.
- Sampling of product from a variety of sample points throughout the site.
- Attend workgroup meetings.
- Participate in Continual Quality Improvement.
- Calibration of Laboratory/ Production equipment and involvement in the setup, commissioning and running of new Laboratory/ Production equipment, including new techniques.
- Creating and delivering training packages to Laboratory/ Production personnel.
- Auditing of Laboratory.
- Comply with the laboratory accredited standard.
- Participate in the proficiency scheme.
- Participate in reviewing & updating SOPs and records.
- Provide internal customers with a first-class level of service.
- Monitoring of stocks and consumables.
- Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results, applicable to the labs.
- Sign off paperwork as required by lab standards.
- Escalate any out of specification results or laboratory incidents to the laboratory manager.
- Active participation in continuous improvement activities and problem-solving resolution.
- Where applicable maintain Quality control charts to verify accuracy of testing/ instrumentation.
- Adherence to H&S requirements for all tasks.
- Transfer to other sites as requested by manager to carry out testing, collect supplies and samples or for any other reasonable request.
Candidates for this position should possess:
- Recognised Science qualification.
- Good communication skills.
- Experienced in Chemical and Microbiological analysis.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word or other MS packages.
- Experience in working as part of a team.
- A positive, can-do, resilient and flexible attitude.
- Understanding of Customer service.
