What is the opportunity?
This is an outstanding opportunity to advise and support Core processing engine simplification and modernisation to ensure that business and technology outcomes are achieved and Bank of Ireland's growth ambitions are supported!
The Lead Architect - Core will provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to implement the overall vision and architecture of the "Core" pillar within the bank's technology estate. The role will support the migration towards a target architecture in line with the 'Core Processing Strategy' that strives to modernise, simplify, and reduce load across the entire core processing estate.
You will bring deep knowledge of legacy technology platforms, mid-range server technology (AS/400), mainframes along with hands-on experience of migrating such estates to modern new-age platforms.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and be responsible for the simplification and modernisation portfolios of change relating to the "Core" estate, supporting the Principal Architect in developing target state strategies and architectures.
- Support development of and delivery against the architecture roadmap for the "Core" estate, ensuring alignment with the Bank's overall enterprise architecture and its strategic objectives.
- Work closely with business partners to understand their specific requirements, find opportunities for innovation and digital transformation, and translate them into technology strategies, initiatives, and roadmaps.
- Direct solution design and engineering teams as the need arises to design architectures that implement strategy and roadmaps in compliance with Architectural standards and within established guard-rails.
- Provide domain expertise to project managers, technical teams, and other partners on enterprise architecture standard processes, principles, and frameworks, and ensure they are followed throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support Principal architects develop and maintain positive relationships with key technology vendors and partners to ensure the bank has access to groundbreaking technologies and can take advantage of emerging trends.
- Mentor and guide other architects, developers, and technical resources to promote standard processes, sharing information, and continuous improvement.
