This position is responsible for managing 30+ Oracle EE Standalone instances and 50+ Oracle MySQL instances across geographically different datacenters. In addition, there are over 100 Sybase instances. Ensure that availability, scalability, and uptime requirements of database services are clearly understood and addressed. Evaluate progress and results of development efforts. Preserve the integrity and design of mission-critical databases necessary for business operations. Work under minimal supervision to produce deliverables in alignment with overall transformation programs, demonstrating mastery of skills in area of sub specialization.


Role & Responsibilities:

Provide proactive knowledge and act as an escalation point for Engineering, Service Support, and Service Delivery teams.
Resolve issues & incidents within defined SLAs.
Proactively work with vendors & providers on issues identified in products and chase issues until successful resolution.
Independently implement approved medium and large-scale projects that align towards service and departmental goals.
Lead, coordinate, and manage all aspects of database implementation.
Oversee the direction, development, and implementation of database software solutions.
Participate in the design process of new databases, and strategies.
Manage delivery of solution within area of specialization, or independently design and implement complex solutions.
Manage relationships with counterparts including functional owners or work streams
Manage the timely resolution of issues within work stream.
Own technology solution within respective area of sub-expertise including overall design, key decisions, and relations with business owners.
Provide direction for the DBA team in support of database operations.
Provide guidance and support to the enterprise, act as single point of contact for DBA related issues.
Coordinate with systems administrators, network engineers, and other teams towards availability, reliability, and scalability of database environments
Recommend and execute modifications to database infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Keep current with related technologies and releases.
Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
Oversee new and existing software upgrades.
Work off-hours escalation as part of a pager-rotation shift or an emergency with 10 minutes of Response Time.
Ensure completeness and quality of all deliverables.
Ensure adherence to corporate policies and standards to meet compliances, availability, and disaster recovery, acting as an escalation point for project team members to provide issue resolution.
Document technology deployments by creating Standard Operating Procedures, training guides.
Experience using SAP Sybase ASE/Replication Server is desired.
Excellent understanding of Oracle technologies and related product / technologies used in replication such as Oracle DataGuard & MySQL Replication.
Current OCP certification desired
Worked in services requiring 10 minutes of Response Time to Incidents including experience in carrying on-call rotation pager.
Experience in implementing local recovery and disaster recovery
Experience with HP Service Manager for change control.
Experience with Veritas NetBackup and RMAN.
Working experience with Oracle 19c & 12c, MySQL V5.x & MySQL 8.x.
Hands on experience with DataGuard to include performance tuning and diagnostics/remedy of issues.
Hands on experience with MySQL replication for Primary/Secondary and Primary/Primary configurations.
Hands on experience with SAP Sybase ASE 15.7/16.x and Replication Server 15.7/16.x is desired.
Must have working experience with scripting and automation.
Working knowledge of Linux OS and Solaris 11 as it applies to Oracle products.
Sybase on Linux experience desired.
Experience in designing and implementing monitoring of databases and related technologies.
Experience using Zabbix a plus to monitor Oracle products.
Knowledge of using PostgreSQL will be an advantage or the commitment to learn/support PostgreSQL.
Proven experience in database infrastructure planning and development.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal abilities.
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
