Bank of Ireland are delighted to be hiring a Lead Solution Architect to join our Solution Design team!

Our Solution Design function within Bank of Ireland is a team of highly-skilled technical specialists working across a range of technologies. Our vision is to develop a best-in-class practice that is highly skilled at solution, application and data architecture, that is strategically focused and that provides design assurance and thought leadership to our customers in Bank of Ireland.

The Lead Solution Architect will lead a team of highly-skilled solution architects and technical designers within an engineering delivery domain. The role will have line manager responsibility for colleagues within the team - a mix of Bank and supplier technical colleagues. The role will assure the quality of solution architecture and design for projects and factories within their domain, ensuring alignment with Bank polices, guidelines and standards. As well as providing solution design expertise to colleagues the role will involve hands-on solution architecture assignments. They will contribute to the development of the Solution Design capability within the Bank and will workto the Head of Application Development for the relevant delivery domain"

Take people manager responsibility for the Bank solution architects and technical designers within the team

Support the Head of Application Development to ensure the right level of solution design capability for all initiatives within their delivery domain

Support and guide to the Solution Architects & Technical Designers within the team - guiding and directing as necessary

Ensure appropriate vetting, on boarding and ongoing support for non-Bank architects and designers within their area of responsibility

Monitor ongoing performance of the team and work closely with the Solution Design Competency Lead in supporting colleague and capability development

Ensure that all Solution Design colleagues in the team have the appropriate standards, principles, processes etc. communicated to them

Provide Bank oversight, review and approval on artefacts produced by suppliers

Develop and maintain suitable delivery domain artefacts

Provide solution design expertise into assigned initiatives

Work as part of the Solution Design leadership team to drive the Solution Design capability forward to support the Banks digital strategy

• Proven people manager with experience in leading, coaching and developing colleagues
• Highly experienced solution architect in designing solutions for large-scale projects and programs working in complex, multi-vendor change delivery organisations
• Strong technical knowledge across multiple technology domains and platforms
• Experience in modern engineering practices and technologies
• Continuous improvement and innovative mind-set
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding of risk identification and management
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-vendor environment and across a range of SDLCs with a focus on delivering quality outcomes
