UCC wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Food Waste in the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences. The post-holder will be an emerging leader in research to optimize shelf life and prevent food waste, with a proven track record of research excellence. Areas required are expertise in the structure and behaviour of food at the macro-micro and nano-levels; nutritional stability and quality, environmental stability of food components; structure-function relationships; interactions of solid food matrices and importantly, the regulatory environment of shelf-life optimization, food ingredients and packaging. The post-holder will add depth and complement existing priority areas in sustainable food systems food waste reduction and food packaging.
