UCC Futures - Collective Social Futures is r e-imagining and addressing the complex and intertwined societal, environmental and political challenges faced across the world. These include social and gender-based inequalities, geopolitical shifts, migration, health and climate change and the urgent need to foster a more caring and liveable world for all. UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer in Spanish and Latin American Studies (Mexican Studies). Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will contribute to core and optional modules in Spanish, Portuguese and/or Latin American Studies. S/he will hold a PhD in Hispanic/Latin American Studies, will have expertise in Mexican Studies and will be able to demonstrate a research record commensurate with the stage in his/her career. S/he will have responsibility for research and teaching in the areas of Mexican and US Latino/a culture and society across the different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to which SPLAS contributes, including the Higher Diploma in Spanish for Post-Primary Teachers and the taught MA programmes offered in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, in particular the MAs in Translation Studies and Global Languages and Cultures. In addition, s/he will be the Director of the Centre for Mexican Studies and will also take on other administrative duties as agreed with the Head of Department.
