The Brown Thomas Arnotts Home & Living Team are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join their team. This role will lead for our Lifestyle, Gifts and Food offering along with responsibility for our toy division FAO Schwarz which brings a magical world of unique toys and games to the lives of our customers. Reporting to the Joint Head of Home & Lifestyle this role leads a team of two Assistant Buyers and two Buying Administrators. Our Head Office in Henry Street is a hub of creativity, style and innovation. Having an open plan space makes it easy to share ideas and be inspired daily.

The successful candidate will be a commercially savvy and passionate retail professional, they will develop the buying strategy by sourcing, selecting and purchasing a broad range brands, identifying opportunities and new products that will deliver exceptional revenue generation, ensuring that Brown Thomas Arnotts delivers unrivalled products and experiences for our customers and continues to Reinvent Retail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify emerging trends in the market and creating opportunities in store to drive future growth.
• Source and select merchandise assortments consistent with the strategy of the store.
• Collaborate with key business areas including the Marketing, Creative teams, Finance and Legal.
• Liaise with Retail Operations team and hold regular floor walks to exchange information, receive feedback and take appropriate action based on performance.
• Manage and build the commercial and business relationships with our suppliers and partners and monitor and evaluate existing suppliers.
• Lead and motivate a wonderful team, sharing your knowledge and driving performance.
• Analyse sales of your department identifying areas of improvements and optimal performance. Ensuring optimum quality merchandise is available in the quantities appropriate to achieve budgeted sales and gross profit.
• Liaise with the multi-channel team ensuring range is visible online and recommend adjustments to drive online business.
• Be fully informed of competitor’s activities in terms of merchandise and pricing so that you can make the best decisions to ensure we are market leaders.
• Lead buying trips and a buying process that ensures the merchandise quality, mix and taste reflects our company image, inspiring and exciting our customer.
• Be a savvy and commercially focused negotiator, ensuring the optimum terms of business are being negotiated with suppliers.
• Work with the finance director and Joint Heads of Living & Home in preparing and reviewing budgets.
• Proactively oversee the management and control of stock levels. Identifying stock slow points and manage action plans and mark down strategy.
• To plan exciting and impactful merchandise promotions/advertising in consultation with marketing, buyers and general managers.
