The primary focus of this role is to support Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as the EOHSS Manager within the Department of Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EOHSS). The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting the company’s environmental, safety and sustainability efforts within the Cruiserath site to drive long-term company and stakeholder value. The position will support the development, planning, organization, and execution of strategies to maintain a safe, health, and environmental compliant facility. This position plays a key role in executing corporate and local policies and procedures that will enable and foster a proactive and integrated EOHSS culture that promotes a positive, proactive approach throughout all operational and enabling function areas at the facility. The EOHSS Manager for the Cruiserath site will report to the Associate Director, EOHSS and will coordinate, implement, assess, and improve environmental, safety and sustainability outcomes using global and local regulations and consensus guides, BMS management systems, policies, and procedures to promote compliant, forward-leaning culture and preserve BMS reputation while driving shared Company objectives. The EOHSS Manager will be expected to approach the coordination of these tasks in alignment with the BMS values of integrity, inclusion, passion, innovation, urgency, and accountability.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
 

  • Implements/ Improves new and existing EOHSS programs to meet compliance with European and Irish, environmental and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides.
  • Ability to apply EOHSS regulatory program requirements in a manufacturing setting.
  • Accountable for EOHSS regulatory preparedness and building rapport and trust through all interactions (external agencies and internal stakeholders)
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of site EOHSS culture; models what good looks like.
  • Provides technical acumen and oversight to all Environmental EOHSS programs and activities on-site
  • Participates and supports EOHSS operational and tier discussions, EOHSS committees and teams; and EOHSS self-assessments and audits.
  • Support the First Response Team (FRT) Programme for the BMS Ireland sites.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm the environment, workforce, or facilities.
  • Identifies and solutions to eliminate environmental and safety excursions.
  • Provide EOHSS expertise, technical advice and in the field support across all Irish locations, including our projects, manufacturing and engineering departments as required.
  • Ensure personnel are aware of their responsibilities with respect to environmental and safety controls and reporting, providing training as required.
  • In conjunction with relevant site stakeholders provide oversight and status on the site EHS Statutory Inspection Programme.
  • Support the Industrial Hygiene Programme.
  • Support the Cruiserath Technical Transfer/New Product Launch EOHSS Programme
  • Responsible for using EOHSS platforms including modules for investigation, inspection, and compliance.
  • Executes recordkeeping/reports at national, state, province level as well as within BMS stipulated structures and timing.
     

Knowledge And Skills
 

  • Working knowledge of applicable Environmental and Safety Legislation and experience with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Health and Safety Authority
  • Knowledge, experience and proven track record with the design and execution of environmental and safety programs in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with the design and execution of EHS risk assessments.
  • Strong Incident Investigation and Corrective and Preventative Action skill set
  • Must maintain proficiency in all BMS EOHSS technical standards.
  • Ability to flex with change and handle multiple priorities with a sense of calm
  • Operate with a high degree of integrity and transparency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proclivity for partnership and cross-team collaboration
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, proven ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint; aptitude and demonstrated proficiency for EOHSS specific systems such as ENABLON, Enfos, Enhesa.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

Education And Experience
 

  • Bachelors’ degree in safety, environmental, physical sciences, or engineering
  • Prefer certification through an accredited organization.
  • Prefer candidates with a six-sigma certification (green belt or above).
  • At least 6 years of direct EOHSS experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical space.
